Passage: Romans 5:6-11

Key Verse: Romans 5:8 NKJV

“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Good morning, friends.

There’s something stunning about undeserved love. Most of the time, love grows in response to goodness, kindness, beauty, or faithfulness. In today’s passage, Paul tells us that God’s love was not triggered by anything we had done. He loved us while we were still sinners, when we were powerless, ungodly, and living in opposition to Him. It was then that Christ died for us.

This love goes beyond a feeling or a kind sentiment. It takes form in action and sacrifice. God has shown His love in the most costly way imaginable. Jesus bore our shame, our sin, and our judgment during the lowest point of our lives, not after we had improved ourselves.

The result of Christ’s sacrificial love is that we’ve been brought back into relationship with God. Once distant and guilty, we are now brought near and forgiven. Through Jesus, we’re no longer defined by failure or fear; we’re accepted, safe, and cherished. His death didn’t just remove our sins; it opened the door to a new life filled with joy, hope, and lasting peace. Paul captures this beautifully: “We also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” This joy flows from knowing that we are His. It’s not an abstract truth; it’s the new reality we wake up to every day.

God’s love reached you right where you were and, through Jesus, brought you into a life of peace, purpose, and acceptance.

Today’s Reflection:

Take a moment to remember who you were before Christ and celebrate the transformation He has made possible. If you’ve never received this kind of love, today may be the day to stop striving and start trusting.

Closing Prayer:

Jesus, thank You for loving me when I was far from You. Thank You for dying in my place and giving me a new name, a new heart, and a new hope. Help me live today in the joy of being reconciled. Amen.
