Romans 1:1, NKJV

“Paul, a bondservant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated to the gospel of God…”

Good morning, friends.

We open the book of Romans today with a single, powerful verse—Paul’s introduction. It’s easy to glance over and think it’s just a greeting. But in this one line, we find something deeper: a man who knows who he is, who he serves, and why he’s here.

Paul doesn’t lead with his accomplishments. He leads with his identity: a bondservant of Jesus Christ. That word—bondservant—meant someone who had chosen, willingly and permanently, to live in service to their master. This wasn't an obligation, it was devotion.

He goes on to say that he was called to be an apostle and set apart for the Gospel. These are words of intentionality and direction. Paul lived with a clear sense of mission, knowing that his days were guided by God's purpose. And that same clarity can shape our lives as well.

Maybe your calling isn’t to write letters that shape the Church for centuries, but your faithfulness matters. Your words, your work, your witness—they carry the fingerprints of a bigger story when offered to God.

You don’t have to figure it all out today. But here’s something to take with you: If you belong to Jesus, you’ve been set apart for something greater. Not just to be saved, but to be sent.

Today’s reflection:

Where has God placed you to live out your purpose right now—at home, at work, or in your circle of influence?

A quiet prayer to begin the day:

Lord, help me to see today not as random, but as full of purpose. Let me live as one set apart for You, with eyes open to the opportunities You give. Use even the ordinary moments to bring glory to You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
