It Didn’t Start with Paul

Romans 1:2–3 NKJV

“…which He promised before through His prophets in the Holy Scriptures, concerning His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who was born of the seed of David according to the flesh.”

Good morning, friends.

Paul’s story didn’t begin with Paul. And the Gospel he carried didn’t start on the road to Damascus. Long before Paul’s calling, before the cross, even before Bethlehem, God was weaving the promise of salvation through His prophets and His Word. The Gospel is ancient; it was always God’s plan.

This matters, especially for those of us who are curious or even skeptical. Christianity isn’t built on a spontaneous idea or a charismatic leader’s legacy. It’s rooted in history, prophecy, and fulfillment. Paul points to the Scriptures, to the long-anticipated arrival of a Savior who would come from the line of David, fully human, yet completely set apart.

Jesus didn’t emerge out of nowhere. He is the fulfillment of promises made over centuries, recorded and preserved for generations. This is no passing movement. It is the culmination of God’s covenant love and His desire to rescue a broken world.

The story of Jesus is rooted in history, not hype.

Today’s Reflection:

If God’s promises were so carefully fulfilled in Jesus, how might that shape your trust in His promises for you?

Closing Prayer:

Father, thank You for being faithful through the ages. Thank You that Jesus was not an afterthought but the centerpiece of Your plan. Strengthen our trust today, especially in the places where we’re still waiting. Let us walk with confidence, knowing Your Word is sure. In Jesus’ name, amen.
