Passage: Romans 3:5-8

Key Verse: Romans 3:5 NKJV

“But if our unrighteousness demonstrates the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is God unjust who inflicts wrath? (I speak as a man.)”

Good morning, friends.

Have you ever wondered why God still judges people if He can bring good out of anything, even our mistakes? Paul wrestles with that exact question here. Some were suggesting that if our sin ends up highlighting how good and faithful God is, then maybe He shouldn’t judge us at all. It’s a clever argument. But is it a good one?

Paul answers quickly: absolutely not. If that kind of thinking were true, then God couldn’t be the Judge of the world. And deep down, most of us want there to be a final Judge, someone who sees all, knows all, and rights all wrongs. If God isn’t just, then everything else falls apart.

But there’s more going on here. This isn’t just a debate about logic. It’s about the heart. There’s a part of all of us that looks for ways to justify what we do, especially when we know it’s not right. We want the benefits of God’s grace without surrendering to His holiness. But Paul reminds us that truth doesn’t need spin, and grace doesn’t need loopholes. God isn’t glorified by our sin; He’s glorified when we come to Him honestly, turn around, and walk in a new direction.

God’s justice is not something to escape; it’s an invitation to trust the One who judges with perfect mercy and truth.

Today’s Reflection:

Have you been holding back from God because you’re afraid of being judged? What if His judgment wasn’t meant to crush you, but to lead you into freedom?

Closing Prayer:

God, thank You for being a just and holy Judge. But more than that, thank You for being patient with us, showing mercy while calling us to the truth. Help us stop looking for ways to justify our sin and start trusting in Your righteousness instead. Teach us to walk in Your light. In Jesus’ name, amen.
