Passage: Romans 3:1–2 NKJV
"What advantage then has the Jew, or what is the profit of circumcision? Much in every way! Chiefly because to them were committed the oracles of God."
Good morning, friends.
After confronting the dangers of religious pride in chapter 2, Paul opens chapter 3 by asking the natural next question: Is there any value, then, in being part of God’s chosen people? His answer is a resounding yes. And the first reason he gives is this: they were entrusted with the very words of God.
That idea, being entrusted with God’s Word, wasn’t just a historical fact. It’s a reminder of how seriously God takes His relationship with His people. To be given His Word is to be invited into His heart, His mind, and His ways. The Jewish people were given the Scriptures not as a trophy, but as a trust. And now, through Jesus, that same trust extends to us.
When we read the Bible, we hold in our hands something powerful. We're not just flipping through pages of ancient wisdom; we're encountering the living Word. John 1:1 reminds us, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” That means when we open Scripture, we’re not just reading about Jesus, we’re meeting Him. That should move us to gratitude, joy, and reverence. We’ve been given the gift of hearing His voice, and now we’re invited to live it out with purpose and hope.
You have been given God’s Word—not to keep it quiet, but to let it shape everything.
Today’s Reflection:
Do I value God's Word the way I would a gift from someone I deeply love? How can I show that love today in the way I respond to it?
Closing Prayer:
Father, thank You for the treasure of Your Word. Help me to see it not as a task but a gift. Let it sink deep into my heart and guide my steps today. Make me faithful with what You’ve entrusted to me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
